Learning at Providence
Providence Christian College is committed to providing an education that empowers every student to strive for excellence. With a range of academic and vocational pathways, we equip students to pursue their passions, fulfil their potential, and achieve their goals.
Educational Philosophy
We believe that learning in the context of an authentic Christian worldview brings a sense of wonder, engagement and purpose to the learning experience. It is the function of Christian education to encourage the search for truth in the context of God’s sovereignty and His created universe.
We believe that educational goals are best achieved by providing continuity from Kindergarten to Year 12, for students and their families, in an atmosphere where relationships and community are fostered and encouraged. This provides students with a positive environment, allowing them to have the security of being known and belonging, and having the opportunity to excel.
The example set by our teaching staff is fundamental to establishing and maintaining a caring environment. We take great care in the selection of our staff. Therefore, we employ Christian teachers whose lives reflect the Godly characteristics we seek to encourage and develop in our students.
We recognise the unique, individual nature of each child as a special creation of God and provide a range of educational experiences and training that allows them to discover their personal gifting. Our teachers assist in the development of these gifts, guiding students in their choice of subjects and preparing them to succeed in their life and calling.
Our education encourages our students to learn for life within the context of Godly values. These values form the foundation for life and are vitally important to the spiritual, emotional, social and academic development of young people. They are incorporated into our curriculum and reinforce what is taught at home and in the family church.
Our hope and prayer for every student is that they will make a commitment to our Lord Jesus Christ and learn to walk in His ways. It is through a relationship with God that our students can find real meaning and a genuine sense of purpose in life.
Life at Providence
Life at Providence is characterised by commitment to building and maintaining strong, resilient relationships. When you join Providence Christian College you join a caring community where we journey together in a shared commitment to the growth and development of your child.
Pastoral Care
We partner with families to uphold expectations of respect and belonging to nurture children into adulthood with strong values and beliefs that will help them to make a meaningful impact on the world.
Our Pastoral Team includes a Community Chaplain, Primary and Secondary Chaplains, College Counsellor, Year Coordinators and caring teachers who provide development and support for all students.
Communication
At Providence, we believe that education is most effective when schools and families work in partnership. Open, clear, and timely communication is key to that partnership.
We are committed to keeping you informed and involved in your child’s learning journey through regular updates in College Newsletters, emails and on our main communication platform, TASS, and the Parent Orbit App.
TASS offers parents real-time access to their child’s educational experience, including class timetables, attendance, pastoral care, homework, assessments, and important school notices – all accessible anytime, from any device by accessing the TASS website or through the Parent Orbit App. This is our central point of truth for all college-related information.
Most importantly, TASS’s continuous reporting allows you to track academic progress as it happens, giving you the opportunity to celebrate achievements, support areas of growth, and engage meaningfully in your child’s learning.
Together, we can create a strong, supportive learning environment that empowers your child to thrive.
Technology
Every student at Providence Christian College has access to appropriate technology for learning in the 21st century. This includes Digital Technologies and Media Laboratories, and technology particular to various learning disciplines such as Science, Technologies, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics (STEAM).
Students from Year 3 onwards use Chromebooks to enhance their learning and to bring about new opportunities for teachers to help them engage in the learning process.
Our College uses Google Apps for Education and is recognised nationally as a Google Reference School.
Extension & Support
We believe every student deserves to be challenged, supported, and inspired—regardless of their starting point. That’s why differentiation is embedded across all subjects, not just a select few.
Our teachers are committed to meeting each student where they are, offering tailored strategies that support learning, expand understanding, and extend potential. Whether a student needs additional guidance, enrichment opportunities, or advanced challenges, our team of dedicated professionals ensures they receive what they need to grow and succeed, from Early Childhood through to Senior School.
At Providence, every learner matters, and every subject is an opportunity to thrive. We offer tailored support through our Inclusive Education teams. Extension is given through our advanced streams and after-school programmes.
